Obama pulled a Kerry

Looks like Barrack Obama pulled a John Kerry this past week while speaking about our troops in Iraq. If you remember a few months ago, John Kerry made a statement referencing the lack of intelligence of our brave troops. He since apologized, claiming he was the victim of a botched joke attempt.

A New Hampshire reporter asked Mr. Obama whether he regretted the remark, made at a rally on Sunday that “we ended up launching a war that should have never been authorized and should have never been waged, and to which we now have spent $400 billion and have seen over 3,000 lives of the bravest young Americans wasted.”

“Even as I said it,” Mr. Obama said Monday, “I realized I had misspoken.”

“What I would say — and meant to say — is that their service hasn’t been honored,” Mr. Obama told reporters in Nashua, N.H.

The NY Times reported the incident on 2/13/2007.

Barack Obama, Our Next President?

It's official, Barack Obama has declared that he is running for President. He did so yesterday morning standing in front of the Old State Capitol where Abraham Lincoln began his political career about 150 years ago. This was a very symbolic stage for Obama, in that Lincoln was responsible for ending slavery and freeing many African Americans, and Obama attempting to be the first African American to be President. A large crowd formed in the frigid morning in Springfield, IL to hear this possibly historic speach. Obama made it clear that he is campaigning for change in America. His limited time in government is being touted as a strength, in that he still has all of "HIS" ideas and not those of all the lobbyists that pull at the veteran politicians for years and years. His main rivals for the Democratic nomination come from Clinton and Edwards.

Obama has made it this far in his political career without the use of negative ads aimed at his opponents. I don't think anyone really expects that to continue with the expected hotly contested Democratic nomination.

Following Obama's announcement in Springfield, he quickly reported to Iowa. This is where each of the candidates will get their first indication of where they stand with the voters. The rest of the country will get their first look at public opinion of them as well. This is where Obama plans to surprise his main Democratic rivals with a convincing win.

The Republican $mear Machine is Now Running Over Obama

In the Think Progress website, we learn of Barack Obama's supposedly hidden Muslim; America Hating; past. It is also being said that all of this information is false. If it is false, who is spreading these rumors? The 2 Usual Suspects are: The Republican Right and the chief Democratic contender (Hillary Clinton). CNN has issued a report refuting the statement that the Muslim school Obama attended was an American hating madrassa. If you check out the CNN article, make sure to vote in their poll of "Who do you think is behind false reports about Barack Obama's time at a Muslim school?" Both articles are interesting reads, however I tend to believe that the Republicans see Obama as a major threat to them retaining the Presidency in 2008; and I am convinced that it is their group that has begun the attack on Obama.

Update 1:
I found another blogger that made a similar post, but was much more eloquent in her post. The Blogger in question is: ReidBlog
