President Bush Visits Peoria

Well, President Bush was in town today to discuss his economic policies and how they have helped Caterpillar have 3 of it's best years (profit wise). This blog post isn't to discuss how I believe that he is taking too much credit for Caterpillar's success. What if the Cat lead management had a great game plan over those 3 years and the years leading up to them? Think about it, they focused on selling the "big yellow tractor" to the areas that needed to, and planned to, do the most construction in those times. Seems simple enough.

Anyway, I said this post wasn't about that. This post is to let you know about a cool site a co-worker told me about. FlightAware lets you input any airport code and view the real-time data of all flights arriving and leaving that airport. I got on this site shortly before it was believed that Air Force One would be landing here. I can't say for certain that I saw the flight path for Air Force One, but there was a flight from Andrews airport arriving at that time. When that flight got within 40 miles of the Peoria airport, all other air traffic seemed to divert and fly well clear of Peoria. And, that said flight had an identification tag that started with "GW".

If your interested in this site, you should check out the traffic around O-Hare airport in Chicago. It is amazing how they can get all of the incoming flights to get lined up in a straight line, a la the movie "Pushing Tin".

What a neat site. Also, any movie with John Cusack is a good one.

I saw Air Force One, and the motorcade twice. It's amazing how much planning goes into this.

I also ran into some Secret Service. And I froze my butt off. But it was still fun to see.
